Please enjoy Japanese cherry blossoms (because so far there are no substantial new developments in the world. Launching of the North Korea missile? But do you really care about it? I do not see it).
But remember that they are of a rather new sort. The Somei-yoshino, the most beautiful and most common cherry tree in Japan, is a product of breeding. It came into being only about 150 years ago.

I am not a fanatic of cherry blossoms. I consider that they are against our esthetic tradition: minimalism. Japanese ancient poets preferred the plum blossoms. They thought that they had to appreciate what Chinese poets praised. Poor guys.

But how beautiful they are! One tree is enough to realize it. Akio KAWATO
